- PurleyCR8Purley is mostly interwar semis and detached houses on hilly, leafy roads, with larger Arts and Crafts houses on the Webb Estate and newer flats around Purley Cross. Plenty of room for an en-suite, and plenty of 1930s bathrooms ready for a rethink.Bathroom fitters in Purley
- CoulsdonCR5Coulsdon has interwar semis, a good number of bungalows, especially towards Old Coulsdon, and new-build homes at Cane Hill. Bungalows make some of the best accessible bathrooms we fit: everything on one level.Bathroom fitters in Coulsdon
- South CroydonCR2South Croydon mixes large Victorian and Edwardian villas, many now converted into flats, with interwar streets further out. Conversions bring their own bathroom puzzles: small rooms, long waste runs and a neighbour underneath.Bathroom fitters in South Croydon
- SandersteadCR2Sanderstead is leafy and mostly detached and semi-detached houses from the 1930s onwards, on generous plots. Family bathrooms here often have the space for a freestanding bath and a separate walk-in shower.Bathroom fitters in Sanderstead
- SelsdonCR2Selsdon was largely built between the wars and after, with semis and detached houses on quiet residential roads. Many bathrooms here are the originals or a 1990s refit, so a full renovation is the usual job.Bathroom fitters in Selsdon
- Thornton HeathCR7Thornton Heath is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many split into flats. Bathrooms are usually in the back addition: long, narrow and often above the kitchen, with the soil stack on an outside wall.Bathroom fitters in Thornton Heath
- NorburySW16Norbury has Edwardian terraces and the London County Council’s early cottage estate, built in the 1900s and 1910s. Bathrooms are small, so every centimetre counts: walk-in showers and wall-hung suites make the most of them.Bathroom fitters in Norbury
- AddiscombeCR0Addiscombe has Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas close to East Croydon, with interwar houses towards Ashburton Park and Shirley. A mix that means every bathroom we see here is a little different.Bathroom fitters in Addiscombe
- ShirleyCR0Shirley is largely 1930s semis and detached houses, with bigger homes towards Shirley Hills and Monks Orchard. Typical jobs here are a full family bathroom refit or a new en-suite carved out of a bedroom.Bathroom fitters in Shirley
- WallingtonSM6Wallington, just over the border in Sutton, is mostly interwar and Edwardian semis and terraces, with flats near the station. We cover it from Croydon, and the bathrooms here are much like the ones next door in Waddon and Purley.Bathroom fitters in Wallington

Four kinds of Croydon bathroom
Croydon’s housing changes street by street. Knowing what’s usually behind the tiles helps us quote accurately.
North Croydon terraces
Thornton Heath, Selhurst, Broad Green and South Norwood. Long, narrow bathrooms in the back addition, often over the kitchen. Older pipework is common once the tiles come off.
Interwar suburbs
Shirley, Purley, Coulsdon, Sanderstead and Selsdon. Many 1930s houses still have a separate toilet beside the bathroom, ready to be knocked through into one bigger room.
Flats and conversions
The town centre, South Croydon and Upper Norwood. Converted Victorian villas and newer blocks, where access, noise and the lease shape the plan.
Bungalows and larger houses
Coulsdon, Kenley and Sanderstead. Room for an en-suite or a level-access shower room, often while the rest of the house stays as it is.
