What does a bathroom renovation cost in Croydon?
Honest answer: it depends on six things. Here’s what they are, so you can see where your money goes, and where you can save without it showing.

Six things that decide what your bathroom costs
Every question in our quote form is there because it changes one of these. That’s how we can price most rooms without a visit.
Moving things around
The single biggest swing. Keeping the toilet where it is keeps the waste pipe where it is. Moving it, or the bath, means new pipe runs under the floor.
How much you tile
Floor only, half height or floor to ceiling. Full height takes more tiles, more board and more days. Large-format and patterned layouts take longer to set out.
Tray or wet room floor
A low shower tray is quicker to fit than a fully tanked, level wet room floor that has to be formed to fall to a drain.
The suite you choose
A basic white suite and a designer one cost very different amounts, and wall-hung pieces need concealed frames. The labour to fit them is similar.
Extras
Underfloor heating, an illuminated mirror, a recessed niche, new lighting. Each is modest on its own, and they add up.
What we find, and getting in
Rotten boards or old lead pipe behind the tiles, a top-floor flat with no lift, or permit-only parking. We ask about these up front so they’re in the quote.
Where to spend, and where to save
Some things you’ll notice every day for fifteen years. Others nobody will ever see.
- Shower
- Worth spending on:A good thermostatic valve and a decent head
- Fine to save on:A fancy shower screen finish
- Behind the walls
- Worth spending on:Waterproofing, backer board and isolation valves
- Fine to save on:Nothing. Never skimp here
- Tiles
- Worth spending on:The tile you see most: the shower wall or floor
- Fine to save on:Plain tiles on walls behind furniture
- Suite
- Worth spending on:The toilet and taps, which you use most
- Fine to save on:A basic bath panel or a standard basin
- Comfort
- Worth spending on:Underfloor heating in a cold room
- Fine to save on:Heated mirrors and gadgets
What to check when you compare quotes
Two quotes for the same bathroom can be thousands apart because they’re not for the same job. Check each one says whether it includes:
- Stripping out and taking the old suite away
- Boarding and tanking wet areas
- All the tiling, with trims and silicone
- Electrics, extractor fan and certificate
- The suite, taps and shower, or fitting only
- Making good and clearing up
Often left out, so ask
- Plastering and decorating
- Underfloor heating
- Replacing rotten boards
- Moving the toilet or soil pipe
Questions people ask
Why don’t you list prices on the website?
Because a single number would be wrong for most people. A like-for-like refit of a small bathroom and a new layout with a wet room floor are completely different jobs. Answer the questions in the quote form, add a few photos, and we’ll give you a real price for your room.
Is it cheaper to supply my own suite?
Sometimes. If you find a good deal, buying your own suite can save money, and we’re happy to fit it. The catch is that you take on the ordering, deliveries and returns, and a missing part can hold up the job. Tell us in the form which way you’d prefer.
Do I pay a deposit?
Payment terms are set out in your written quote before anything is agreed. Never pay for a whole job up front, with us or anyone else.
Can I save money by doing the strip-out myself?
You can, but we’d only recommend it if you’re confident isolating water and electrics safely. Often the saving is small compared with the risk of damaging pipes or the floor we then have to fix.
